FOUNDERS
Cocktail X was born from a simple belief: Munich's bar culture deserves a stage. Two men built it.

The Story
During the pandemic, Munich's gastronomy scene was at a standstill. Bars closed, bartenders without a stage, an entire cultural scene on hold. It was precisely in this moment that Ekkehard Bay and Vincent Kerger developed an idea bigger than the crisis: a festival that puts Munich's bar scene in the spotlight — for everyone.
The inspiration came from London: London Cocktail Week demonstrates how a decentralised festival format works — guests visit numerous bars with a single ticket and rediscover the city. Bay and Kerger adapted this concept for Munich and created something of their own: a festival where every bar creates an exclusive signature cocktail — only for these 18 days.
In April 2023, Cocktail X opened its doors for the first time — with 32 participating bars and a clear vision to become Germany's largest cocktail festival. Today, in its 4th edition, 58 bars participate and over 5,000 guests are expected.

For Ekkehard Bay, hospitality has always been more than a profession — it is an attitude, a passion, and a matter of the heart. As an award-winning mixologist and one of the well-known figures of Munich's bar scene, he creates places and moments where people connect, feel at ease, and create lasting memories.
His journey began at the opening of the Roomers Hotel in Munich and took him to London, where he gained valuable experience under Sean Fennelly, before returning to his hometown and the Ory Bar. There he further developed his vision and set new standards in the bar scene with the Cocktail X Festival. From this idea grew an event company that has since served more than 200,000 cocktails.
With Dionys, Ekkehard Bay is now bringing his vision of modern hospitality into the digital space. One thing has always remained important to him: meeting people with openness, warmth, and genuine appreciation. What he is most proud of are the people who support and accompany him in his personal life — his friends and his family.

Vincent Kerger
Co-Founder & Managing Director
bayundco GmbH
Vincent Kerger's journey began behind the bar — as a bartender at the Andaz Munich, he discovered his passion for hospitality. His dual degree in International Hotel Management at SRH Dresden deepened this path and laid the foundation for everything that followed.
When the founding of bayundco and Cocktail X became real, he quickly realised how much knowledge he lacked in tax and finance. So he joined a tax consultancy firm in parallel and learned what he needed — not from theory, but from practice. Today he uses that knowledge to fill a gap he kept seeing in hospitality: solid structures that make creative ideas sustainable.
With Dionys, he is now bringing this experience into the digital space — an AI platform that automates event and reservation processes in hospitality. What drives him is always the same thing: making hospitality better, for guests and for hosts alike.
